location of accommodation
The 42 square meter apartment is on the second floor of a typical Berlin building, which dates from the beginning of the twentieth century. In 2009 the whole apartment was completely renovated to a high standard. It was important to us that the apartment kept the charm of the traditional Berlin tenement ("Altbau"). The apartment is bright, very quiet, also with open windows, has a rich wooden floor, high ceilings and it is tastefully and fully furnished. It has one big cooking/eating/living area with convenient sofa, which can be turned to a 1,2 x 2 m bed, if needed, and one separated big bedroom with 1 comfortable double bed. You can prepare your breakfast in the completely equipped kitchen (refrigerator, electric stove, washing machine, toaster, coffee machine) or you can go to one of the nearby cafés (famous for their brunches). In the apartment there's radio with CD-player and cable TFT - TV with teletext.
The apartment is in the heart of Berlin's trendiest district, Prenzlauer Berg. Prenzlauer Berg is an area of listed old buildings (the oldest building, at Kastanienallee 77, dates from 1848). The neighbourhood is full of bars and restaurants; the gastronomy scene of Berlin centres around Kastanienallee, Kolwitzplatz and Helmholtzplatz and lazy brunches in the cafes are de riguer. You'll also find numerous galleries, art-cafés, theatres, cinemas, bars, clubs, designer boutiques and restaurants nearby - all reachable on foot. Helmholzplatz, Kollwitzplatz, the Prater beergarden, the Mauerpark and the Kulturbrauerei are all just a couple of walking minutes away.
There's a tram station just a minute away. It's just a few minutes by tram to Oranienburger Straße, Hackescher Markt, Friedrichstraße or the next subway (U-bahn) and S-Bahn (suburban train) stations. The main sightseeing attractions like Alexanderplatz, Museumsinsel, Nikolaiviertel, Unter den Linden, Friedrichstaße (Checkpoint Charlie), Brandenburg Gate, Potsdamer Platz are also not far away. Public parking lots in the area are free of charge.
